Residential Photography & how I approach doing it

Residential photography- seeing all a room has to offer is exceptionally important but character and style has relevance too, with this in mind i avoid shooting wider than 24mm as less than this focal length results in imagery that distorts a sense of the reality. A number of my clients have requested books made of my work, these have included atmospheric imagery; which appear within these portfolios as they add a greater narrative to the story. I believe they add the sense of texture, mood and ambience within a room, fusing the nature of how different elements add to the collective within a room.

All captivating photography revolves around symmetry, and this is particularly relevant in architectural and interior photography. Positioning of the camera is absolutely critical and a shift to the slightest degree can have a substantial impact.

The images below have been taken either with a Canon 5D mk 2, Canon TS-E 24mm f3.5L Mk II Lens, Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 and in places a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, or a Fujifilm XT2 and a complete set of primes. When lighting i use two or more daylight balanced lamps; all factors are variable according to requirement, time, budget, environment.
